Title: The World Wakeboard School
Post by: kingfl on 09.January.2007, 12:46:38 PM
Has anything noteworthy occured since the county renewed Andy's privileges to run the school on Lake Morgan in 2006?  Is he behaving, or do the skiers still bother the River Ranchers?  Inquiring minds want to know.  How many jumps (or whatever they are called) are in the lake?  I think the county approved only the five or six that were there.

And is Lake Morgan being polluted by power boats, being landlocked? Is it still "Lake Morgan"?

All I know is that most of us living on Lake Emma (and I am told Lake Lucy) are thrilled to see them off our lake.  The large wakes coming during a high water period were definitely hard on the native sawgrass in my shoreline.  The all day noise is certainly not missed either.  There was more traffic from that single boat than all the other boats that visited or lived on the lake combined.
The latest wakeboard scientist has taken to driving straight toward docks and turning very hard at the last minute to make the longest possible run across the lake.  I wonder how long it will take until a distraction, tumbling boarder, or mechanical malfunction results in a dock crash?  I certainly don't want that problem...either from a marine patrol investigation perspective nor from a State Farm Homeowners' perspective.  I remember what a property owners' nightmare it was when there was a drowning on Lake Lucy and the police "moved" into and onto Roger Duval's property for a week during the holiday season.
Please be considerate of others' property and use.

I will try to solicit comments about wakeboarding from people on Lake Whippoorwill in Narcoosee.  They have had the same problem with another wakeboard school for many more years than we have.  Some have grown to accept the entertainment it provides, but I think most would rather have their tranquility back.
